Terms of Service

1. The service

Batayan provides grounded legal research over Philippine law, AI conversation, document upload and drafting, legal templates, citations, and case workspaces. We may add, change, or remove features as the service evolves.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to use the service on behalf of your firm or organization. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account.

3. Subscriptions and billing

• Paid plans are offered on monthly or annual cycles, billed in advance.
• Payments are processed securely by PayMongo or Lemon Squeezy; we do not store card details.
• Each plan includes a monthly AI usage allowance that renews on your billing anniversary. Research and document processing draw faster than short questions. A spent allowance pauses new AI work until renewal or upgrade — it never adds charges — and your documents, matters, and exports stay available.
• You can cancel or change plans from your account settings. Refunds follow the terms presented at purchase.

4. Your content and documents

You retain all ownership of the documents and information you upload. You grant Batayan a limited license to host, process, and store that content solely to provide the service — for example, to ground AI answers in your files and to allow collaboration within your workspace.

You are responsible for what you upload: it must be lawfully yours to use, and you must not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that violates anyone's confidentiality obligations.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for unlawful activity or to violate others' rights;
• Attempt to bypass authentication, access controls, or usage limits;
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the service or its output without permission;
• Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the platform.

6. AI output and accuracy

Batayan grounds answers in retrieved sources and cites them inline, but AI can still make mistakes. Outputs are provided for research support only. Always verify citations against the original sources before filing or relying on them.

7. Intellectual property

The Batayan software, branding, and design are owned by us and licensed to you for the term of your use. You may use the outputs of the service for your own lawful professional work, subject to these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach of these Terms, unlawful use, or if required by law. On termination, you can export or delete your data before your access ends.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes shall be brought before the courts of the Philippines.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notified through the app.
